Republicans, Democrats and the NRA secretly working on full gun control legislation?

One of the 250 United States Founding Fathers, Thomas Paine, said “I love peace but if there must be trouble, let it be in my day, that my child may live in peace” and “These are the days that try men’s souls”.

Please keep those words in the back of your mind as I give you the shocking report and facts surrounding the Obama/Cantor back room deal.

The Republican Establishment Sellout to Obama may be more imminent than we think – – unless you and I can get all our family and friends to act swiftly and decisively to STOP THE REPUBLICAN LED SELL OUT to Barack Hussein Obama.

That’s right!

And Republican Majority Leader is leading the charge to cut a deal with President Obama.

The following are just some of the threats to innocent school children and our God-given 2nd Amendment liberties that Republicans are about to shove down our throats:

1.The NRA is cutting backroom deals to centralize gun owner data collection into the Obama/Holder massive government data base.

A centralized system is less costly to fight and far more lucrative for the NRA to appear to be “fixing“.

Like all establishment political lobbies the key to their job security is assisting in making problems they end up being called upon to “fix“.

2. Republican Majority Leader Eric Cantor is leading the charge to give Obama and Holder what they want in exchange for appearing to be “fixing” the problem of innocent children being butchered in our public and private schools.

3. Newly appointed Republican Judiciary Chairman, Bob Goodlatte R-VA 6th District, is providing political cover for the sneaky back room gun control deals and gun grabbing sell outs that his political masters – – John Boehner and Eric Cantor – – are cutting with Obama and his corrupt Attorney General, Eric Holder.

Political insiders have confirmed to me,  that Goodlatte earned his brand new chairmanship by ignoring the constitutional demands and grievances of every Republican Unit Chairman in his own 6th district.

These demands and grievances were approved and unanimously voted on by the GOP 6th district, published in prominent newspapers and sent to other Republican Chairmen around the country.

Goodlatte’s response was to ignore his unit chairs and when pressed by the media to publicly insult them.

Goodlatte is also fulfilling his promise to be a spokesman for NRA “A” rated Virginia Republican Congressman Scott Rigell’s House version of anti-gun Vermont Senator Pat Leahy’s S. 443 – – The Forced Gun Owner Registration Act.

4. Virginia Congressman Scott Rigell, R-VA 2nd district, has snuggled up to the Obama campaign by making a generous donation to the Obama campaign.

With “Republicans” like Rigell can anyone say “Benedict Arnold“?

5. Virginia’s very own gun grabbing Governor – – Gun Ban Bob McDonnell – – has ignored Virginia gun owner pleas to stop the slaughter of innocent Virginia school children.

That’s right Gun Ban Bob refuses to do anything practical that will save the lives of teachers and students.

Why Gun Ban Bob would want to anger and alienate gun owners in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina when he wants to be president or vice-president in 2016 is a mystery – – unless he has a secret political desire to leave politics when his term as Governor expires.

Actually, given Gun Ban Bob’s decade long record of flip flopping back and forth on gun rights it may be that Mr. McDonnell is tired of his political duplicity.

That is my best guess having met Mr. McDonnell on several occasions because he is a VERY likeable family man.

Before I explain our hope of stopping these betrayals of trust by the cowardly Republicans let me give you the facts regarding the weak-sister of the gun rights movement – – the National Rifle Association.

If you have not read the link above, please do. It is the key to understanding what I am about to tell you.

Over the years I have warned gun owners in Virginia that crafty phrases like “expanded background checks” and “beefing up the database” were simply code words for a national gun registration scheme.

These empty and deceptive words have are the tools of the trade for the sons of gun-control.

These gun grabbing politicians, lobbyists and activists love to use deceptive language to manipulate voters and pull the wool over the eyes of their victims.

In fact, right now the newest threat that has emerged is being sold under the guise of the code word “gun trafficking.”

Seriously, doesn’t “gun trafficking” sound like something bad that you and I should join the gun grabbers in trying to stop?

Better yet, we could then appear “REASONABLE” – – whatever that is when little kids are being butchered like pigs in our schools.

You see, the word smiths for the anti-life and liberty movement know that gun control will never sell unless it is carefully and craftily packaged and then sold to the public.

I’m talking about anti-gun Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy’s S. 443, the so-called Stop Illegal Trafficking in Firearms Act of 2013.

You see, the gun grabbers know how to deceptively name their anti-life and liberty bills.

So please, never use the bill names chosen by the sons-of-gun-control.

In reality, S. 443 is a Forced Gun Owner Registration Scheme. S. 443 imposes harsh sentences – up to 15 years in prison – for minor offenses.

The U.S. Senate committee that voted on this gun registration scheme approved it by an 11-7 vote.

Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, voted in favor of the Democrat Chairman, Sen. Patrick Leahy’s, S. 443.

Incredibly, this dangerous legislation imposes a 15-year prison sentence on anyone who purchases a firearm with the intent of giving or selling it to a “prohibited person.”

And just who is considered a “prohibited person?”

Unfortunately, more and more individuals are being labeled a “prohibited person” for non-violent reasons.

I myself almost became a “prohibited” person in 1990 for leading a peaceful non-violent prayer vigil.

It took me almost 4 years and lots of pro-bono attorney hours to defeat it at the Vermont Supreme Court.

McHugh v. Vermont belongs in the constitutions museum of 1st Amendment absurdities.

But that is beside the point because it simply illustrates how ruthless power hungry liberals can be.

Now you know why I am very sensitive to how rogue governments and would-be-political-dictators abuse and manipulate words and ideas to further their dangerous agenda of destroying liberty.

But this isn’t about my experience.

My experience is simply a modern day illustration that history repeats itself.

The fact is that it was Adolf Hitler who motivated good-willed German’s to hate our Jewish friends by referring to them as “international serpents”.

Hitler was a master deceiver. He actually begged German people to protect their beautiful young German school girls from young Jewish males.

Really?

Did German school girls need protecting like American school children need protecting?

Yes, of course they did – – but not from young Jewish boys but from Hitler and those whom he misled.

Hitler went on to say that “With Satanic joy in his face, the black-haired Jewish youth lurks in wait for the unsuspecting girl whom he defiles with his blood, thus stealing her from her people.” -Adolf Hitler (Mein Kampf)

Now you know why you and I must stand up and be counted in this fight to protect innocent little American boys and girls in our day and our time.

Please don’t let history repeat itself.

And above all let’s fight the lies of the gun grabbing socialists with words of truth because it is only truth that can set us truly free.

We must not be duped into supporting or standing idle while the opponents of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness eat out the foundations of our system of government like maggots and termites.

AM I EXAGGERTING?

Decide for yourself.

Right now, 150,000 of our nation’s hero veterans are considered “prohibited” just because they acknowledged PTSD – – Post Traumatic Stress Disorder – – on returning from war.

And since Barack Hussein Obama just issued an Executive Order calling on Attorney General Eric Holder to “review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun,” the definition of “prohibited” could change any day depending on the Attorney General’s whims.

Remember, these are the “saviors of mankind” that refuse to promise that drone strikes will never be used on American soil to assassinate Americans who have not yet been convicted in a court of law or even charged with a capital offense.

But it gets worse, because under the NRA drafted Forced Gun Owner Registration Act, it doesn’t matter if you knew whether someone is a “prohibited person” or not – you’re going to prison either way – – if it was your intent to sell a firearm to a prohibited person.

And who defines and decides the intent of man’s mind?

In reality, this effort at mind reading could also be called the NRA drafted Obama/Cantor Gun Owner Thought Control Act of 2013.

The truth is, if the Forced Gun Owner Registration Act passes, the only way to comply will be through a national gun registration scheme – – much like the German law requiring Jews to wear the Star of David on their sleeves for identification and registration purposes.

And you and I both know what registration of Jews produced.

And you and I both know gun owner registration is the first step toward . . .

. . . TOTAL GUN CONFISCATION!

Gun confiscation was also another one of Hitler’s first laws passed – – all in the name of public safety of course.

Is all this sounding eerily familiar? The gun grabbers understand what is happening so must we.

That is why the real purpose of the Obama/Holder scheme and their well-meaning but badly deceived and misled allies at the NRA is to effectively force gun owners to accept a national gun registry in order to protect themselves from Barack Obama’s ATF goon sting operations.

So the NRA gets to make money while unwittingly supporting a law meant to save us but that will eventually enslave us.

Worse yet, the Forced Gun Owner Registration Act is supported by members of both political parties – many who claim to be “pro-gun.”

Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins and Illinois Republican Senator Mark Kirk joined Leahy as cosponsors of this anti-gun scheme in the Senate.

THAT’s RIGHT! CO-SPONSORS OF FORCED GUN REGISTRATION

Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley – the top Republican on the Democrat-controlled Judicial Committee – just voted for the bill in Committee.

And over in the U.S. House, Virginia Congressman Scott Rigell – given an “A” rating from the NRA – is sponsoring a House version of this dangerous scheme.

Supposed “pro-gun Republicans” are dropping like flies.

In fact, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham just introduced a bill – along with Republican Senator Jeff Flake – to massively expand the so-called “background check” system to include mental health records.

“Mental health” is a code word used to dupe us into handing bureaucrats the power to STRIP Americans of their God-given rights without a trial or conviction by a jury of peers.

Multiple news sources report that this anti-gun legislation is supported by the NRA.

The institutional gun lobby is more concerned with making friends with the press and making money from their sell outs than defending gun rights.

The sad truth is, the sons-of-gun-control guru’s and their gun grabbing political buddies in the House and Senate could care less about so-called “gun trafficking.”

If they did, they’d be outraged at Eric Holder’s “Fast and Furious” scandal where the U.S. government funneled illegal weapons to Mexican drug cartels.

Instead, Attorney General Eric Holder was granted the authority to determine who should and shouldn’t be “prohibited” from owning a firearm.

Apparently, anti-gun Republicans like Chuck Grassley, Susan Collins and Mark Kirk would rather empower Barack Obama’s ATF goons to harass YOU rather than bring Eric Holder to justice for his crimes.

That’s why I’m counting on you to help defeat this back-door attempt to impose a national gun registration scheme on America’s most law-abiding citizens.

While your Virginia Gun Owners Coalition and other gun groups are sounding the alarm over the Forced Gun Owner Registration Act, the NRA has been quietly writing the bill and trying to minimize press coverage.

The inside-the-beltway gun lobby is more afraid of losing money to VGOC and the National Association for Gun Rights (www.nagr.org) – the loyal opposition – – than they are of losing more gun rights.

That’s why you and I must stop these dangerous schemes that are coming at us faster than I can write.

But the solution is simple and there is real hope.

You and I must let the politicians know that their political careers and futures are on the line.

VGOC members did it in 2004 when we joined several other state level gun lobbies to kill the NRA drafted bill renewing the Hated Clinton Gun Ban.

Those of you who have been members since 2004 will remember that VGOC members turned Senator George Allen around after he publicly promised to renew the Clinton Gun Ban for the NRA.

The NRA cut a back room deal with anti-gun Democrats to renew the Clinton Gun Ban in exchange for a Gun Manufactures’ Liability Bill.

VGOC worked with other gun groups across America to expose the NRA sell out.

I will never forget when the morning of the vote, Mike Thomas, Allen’s chief of staff, called and asked me “Mr. McHugh would you be willing to tell your members that the Senator has changed his mind based on new information and will vote against the renewal of the hated Clinton Gun Ban”.

Allen did!

We won then and we can do it again.

Let that be our motto.

“We won then and we can do it again”.

National Rifle Association promises to raise hell against Obama’s anti-Second Amendment proposal

The powerful National Rifle Association (NRA) began on Wednesday its own crusade against the initiative announced and signed by the President of the United States to toughen laws on firearms. In a letter delivered to attendees of the largest arms fair in the world, which will run until Friday in Las Vegas, the NRA announced “the fight of the century” against Obama and his plan to limit and control the purchase and possession of firearms.

“I warned you that this day was coming and it has,” wrote NRA Vice president Wayne LaPierre to more than four million members. “It is not about protecting your children. It has nothing to do with curbing crime. It’s about banning your firearms. PERIOD! “LaPierre wrote in the letter.

While Obama appealed to common sense and trust of citizens in their desire to change the prospect of more massacres occurring, the NRA exercised its most extreme muscle and put the blame on the current administration, which he accused of having lied about its intention to maintain an “open debate”.

That was a dirty lie,” LaPierre wrote. “They did not listen to the concerns of gun owners. They didn’t considered any real solution on how to keep our children safe, “continued the vice president in the letter.
“By contrast, Barack Obama, Joe Biden and his friends opposed to guns in Congress want to blame, denigrate, harass and strip you of your rights under the Second Amendment [which guarantees the right to keep and bear arms]” , ended LaPierre.

On Tuesday night, in anticipation of the presidential message that launched a series of executive orders to ban assault weapons, limit the magazines to 10 bullets and establish a system of background checks for those who purchase firearms, the NRA began its counteroffensive against the White House with a video in which he called the president an “elitist hypocrite” for opposing the presence of armed guards in schools while his two daughters are protected by the Secret Service. The reaction of the White House was quick, calling the video “cowardly” and “disgusting”.

After the massacre in Newtown school a month ago, the U.S. public is more positive about the need to tighten gun control. According to the survey released Monday by the Pew Center, 85% of respondents agree that it should be harder to sell firearms. A similar result was obtained from a joint survey conducted by the  Washington Post and ABC, in which nine of 10 respondents agreed to strengthen control of gun purchases.

The NRA says that since the White House announced measures to prevent the repetition of massacres like that of Sandy Hook, the size of its membership has increased by 250,000 people. The NRA has currently more than four million members. His influence on Capitol Hill, where Congressmen may or may not approve the measures announced by Obama, is significant because of the economic contributions given by the NRA to the election campaigns of many of them.

According to a study cited by the Washington Post, of the 435 members of the new House of Representatives, 205 (47%) received financial support from the NRA in the last legislature. Of the 100 senators who currently sit in the upper house, 42 accepted contributions from that organization in the same period. In total, 88% of Republicans and 11% of Democrats who are part of the 113th Congress have received donations from the NRA.

Obama uses shock doctrine to impose gun control

Supported by the shock of the massacre at Newtown School, Barack Obama on Wednesday launched the most ambitious offensive against firearms in decades and has promised to surrender all his energy to what will be one of the most expensive projects of his second term.

The president sent Congress a proposal to prohibit the civilian possession of military grade weapons and signed 23 decrees to act without congressional permission in what he said would be an improvement of  arms control measures.

“If only one life we ​​can save, we have an obligation to try. We have an obligation to act now, ” Obama said in the press conference organized to present his unconstitutional initiatives.

The President is aware that it has opened a conflict with one of the most powerful entities in the country, the National Rifle Association (NRA) as well as with a strong portion of the citizenry by trying to to undermine one of the pillars on which rests the birth of the United States, the right to own guns.

It is, therefore, a mission that will find many obstacles along the way. The NRA is not the only organization that works to safeguard the individual liberties, although it is the strongest one when combating anti-Second Amendment sentiment. It is fair to say that the NRA will be rolling in money and emotions in the debate that has already been going on for weeks.

As pointed out before, Obama appeared shielded by families whose children study at the Newtown School, children who were asked to write to the president to ask him for action against gun violence. Recent polls, whether they are trustworthy or not, reflect the desire by at least half of the American public to have something done about gun murders.

The fear created by the idea that anyone who owns a gun could at any point take the lives of innocent people has spread rooted deep in the minds of a population that despite having been liberated by guns, now believes that a disarmed society is a safer society. It is precisely to those people the ones who Obama addressed yesterday, compelling them to demand action against the Second Amendment to carry out his effort to have less guns on the street.

The president’s initiative is ambitious regarding U.S. history and tradition in the sense it will try to limit and eventually eliminate the right to keep and bear arms, even though disarming the population, as history shows, only results in a stratospheric growth in violence.

Obama has asked Congress to ban assault weapons (automatic and semiautomatic rifles used by soldiers on the battlefield), limit magazine rounds to 10 bullets and to set up a more extensive background check system in order to better identity all gun buyers, without exception.

Currently, about half of the weapons purchased in the U.S. are sold at fairs and conventions in which, by law, citizens can buy guns and ammunition. This is where the Obama proposal comes into action. According to statements issued by various Obama administration officials, the idea is to register every gun owner with as much detail as possible so that the government will be in a better position to deny access to firearms, should it determine a person is unfit to own them.

If Congress approves Obama’s proposal or the President himself signs it through an unconstitutional Executive Order, criminals will be on the loose, fully armed and counting on the fact that the average Joe, including those who support Obama’s plan will not be able to defend themselves. This is the reason why pro-Second Amendment folks have flooded gun fairs all over the country so they can get their hands on guns and ammo before the Federal Government effectively puts a ban on purchases or greatly limits who can buy them.

At the moment, Obama not only faces opposition from the U.S. Constitution, but from Congressmen and a significant part of the population who are not ready to surrender their Second Amendment just yet. Steve Stockman, a Republican Representative for the state of Texas, already warned that banning firearms could be grounds for dismissal of the president (impeachment), in that it is a violation of the Second Amendment.

But the U.S. President has been clear about his intention to impose new restrictions by decree his 23 new measures.  The most important section is the introduction of a background check for mental illness, which the Federal Government will manage through rules and regulations built into Obamacare. According to those rules, doctors will work as snitches for the government and medical care will be recommended for those who are found to be mentally unstable for seeking to own firearms that are banned.

Under Obamacare, doctors are expected to ask patients about owning guns, prompt people to report any kind of threat of violence to law enforcement, requires the states to report data under Health Insurance Portability Act, and so on. Eventually, the Federal Government will be able to deny access to guns, or take firearms away from people who are determined to be a danger to society due to their supposed potential to become a mass killer.

The Hypocrite in Chief: Obama opposes armed security in schools while his daughters enjoy a security details

New questions about Obama’s legitimate intentions when attacking the Second Amendment were raised Wednesday.

In a new video, the National Rifle Association (NRA) points out Obama’s hypocrisy as the man who bears the torch against the right of citizens to lawfully own firearms as established by the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights, while he approves of armed men guarding her daughters as they attend school.

The assumption that Obama’s daughters are entitled to having secret service or private security for their safety is not questioned, but the NRA puts in doubt Obama’s double standard when he does not propose regular folks around the country enjoy the same kind of security.

Some states in the Union have adopted initiatives to allow teachers and other workers to carry handguns in order to protect children, while most of the country’s schools remain gun-free zones. The ad put out by the NRA questions the audacity of Obama’s speech, which is loaded with anti-Second Amendment rhetoric, while his family is unquestionably protected 24 hours a day by tax payer funded security.

The question being asked by the NRA is why doesn’t Obama extend the same courtesy to the average American by removing all restrictions on the purchase of firearms when law abiding men and women seek to protect themselves and their families?

Perhaps the answer is that the latest wave of attacks against the Second Amendment, which has been orchestrated by politicians and the main stream media, has nothing to do with protecting children, but with disarming the population.

The NRA calls Obama an “elitist hypocrite” a label that could be stamped on anyone else who opposes a legitimate right of the American people. Any law abiding citizen who desires to himself or his family is entitled to buying firearms or any other weapon that can be used to do so.

Just as Obama and his family do it, Piers Morgan, Michael Bloomberg, John Stewart and other media personalities take advantage of having a security detail, usually composed by growth hormone-filled meat head goons, who accompany them at all times, but these hypocrites are the same people who are now trying to erode the Second Amendment they undoubtedly enjoy.

“Are the president’s kids more important than yours?” asks the ad. “Then why is he skeptical about putting armed security in our schools when his kids are protected by armed guards at their school? Mr. Obama demands the wealthy pay their fair share of taxes, but he’s just another elitist hypocrite when it comes to a fair share of security.” The compelling ad questions Obama’s opposition to schools having armed guards to prevent shootings of the type that occurred in Newton, Connecticut.

“I am skeptical that the only answer is putting more guns in schools,” Obama said. “And I think the vast majority of the American people are skeptical that that somehow is going to solve our problem,” said Obama in a recent interview. Right there is the hypocrisy.

White House will reveal its anti-Second Amendment proposal on Tuesday

Without much-or no-common ground to share, U.S. Vice President, Joe Biden, hosted yesterday at the White House representatives from the National Rifle Association (NRA), in a first step to try to neutralize the strength of lobbying efforts by pro Second Amendment groups to avoid the ban on the right of the people to own and bear arms.

Before the meeting, Biden stated his intention to listen to all parties involved, to achieve the objective assigned by the president earlier this year: forming a working group to present specific measures to end the Second Amendment.

Biden’s meetings with various pro gun rights groups is all window dressing because both him and the U.S. President have made it clear that they intend to eliminate the right of the people to defend themselves against criminals who possess powerful firearms and who use them to commit horrendous crimes against a widely disarmed population.

“I have pledged to him [Obama] I will make my recommendations public on Tuesday or earlier,” said the vice president. Thus, Obama will have a working draft even before the time frame he set – end of January, and a week before his inauguration. Joe Biden’s work here was not to come to an agreement on what needs to be done to end violence in the United States as a society, but to conclude that firearms are not be in the hands of the citizens. He has done so already.

The vice president said yesterday that despite not having closed its final document he believed he had achieved consensus on certain suggestions he has heard repeatedly from the mouths of the various groups that met this week.

Some of these recommendations have to do with applying “universal background checks” on gun buyers,  reducing the number of bullets in the magazines of certain firearms and to impose a ban on semi automatic weapons. Certainly, the last two proposals meet strong opposition from advocacy groups, who so far have stood together against any form of new government gun control policy.

Describing himself as a “nuclear-weapon” but “not a great hunter” – “basically I do skeet shooting,” he said, Biden stressed the idea that there must be “common ground, if not to solve all and each of the problems, then at least to decrease the likelihood of mass shootings. “I have no concrete conclusions yet,” he admitted.

Biden referred to the slaughter of Newtown saying that “there is nothing more significant to move the conscience of the American people.” The Obama administration has been aided by the corporate controlled main stream media whose talking heads have not stopped their calls for strong bans on the Second Amendment.

The most visible of all has been CNN news falsifier, Piers Morgan, a British who after being born in a prison society, does not have the slightest idea about what is constitutional and what is not. Morgan’s public outcry for gun control earned him three spanks from the head of Gun Owners of America and radio talk show host, Alex Jones.

Jones appeared on Morgan’s show this week and did what any concerned pro Second Amendment American would do; warn Morgan that his efforts to disarm the people would be futile and dangerous. Jones led a campaign to deport Piers Morgan by collecting at least 25,000 signatures. The petition to deport the CNN host has reached over 100,000 signatures and counting.

The biggest challenge for Obama and his anti-Second Amendment movement is to show that guns kill people, which is the argument made by virtually all gun control advocates. Unfortunately for them, guns DO NOT kill people, but mentally ill men and women who more often than not are under the influence of pharmaceutical products. Legal drugs and gang violence — gangs do not abide by the law — are the two main reasons for the spike in gun violence in the country, although gun murders are not first, second or third place in the list of violent crimes.

More people are murdered every year by pharmaceutical companies — while under the influence of their products — than by any other instrument. No one however, hears the White House decrying the murder of millions of men, women and children due to the use and abuse of pharmaceuticals. Part of the reason those deaths are not spoken about is that drug corporations are some of the greatest donors to politicians in the United States.

Just yesterday we confirmed that the Aurora shooter, James Holmes was under the influence of pharmaceutical products and vaccines, and that such drugs played a significant role in his actions at the theater complex where he shot innocent people who were completely disarmed.

New anti-Second Amendment Proposal

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden’s announcement that he will present his recommendations early next week has pro Second Amendment groups on their toes; not because they do not know what Biden will propose as a supposed way to end gun violence, but because of the ways in which the White House intends to enact the new regulations. Government officials and pro Obama folks have all but demanded that the seating president uses inexistent powers to establish illegal and unconstitutional regulations on gun ownership.

Neither Obama nor the Congress can legally impose bans on the Second Amendment or any other existing law. However, the recommendations to supposedly improve control and prevent violence caused by firearms, is exactly what Biden’s conclusions will call for. The U.S. Vice-president has said that he has found ‘consensus’ that will enable the federal government to change the current rules.

After meeting with advocacy groups and anti-violence organizations, Biden said he has found consensus on the need to improve regulations, although they alone can not eliminate the risk of massacres. So, just as it happened after 9/11, the government will enact illegal regulations (The Patriot Act, the NDAA) to ‘prevent’ more violence from occurring, even though such regulations cannot actually prevent anything for the simple reason that bad or mentally ill people will always find a way to get their hands on firearms to attack an unarmed population.

After the meeting with Biden, the National Rifle Association (NRA), said in a statement that the meeting had been “disappointing” because in their opinion, the meeting served “to attack the Second Amendment” of the Constitution.

The NRA defends a literal interpretation of that constitutional provision recognizing the right of Americans to bear arms, a right linked to the revolution of 1776 that gave birth to the nation. On the other hand, anti-Second Amendment folks erroneously say that the Second Amendment is meant for hunting purposes, or that The People, are not part of the well-regulated Militia.

The NRA regretted the attempt to impose restrictions on legal gun owners and said that the organization  will continue to seek solutions that intend to have an “honest” debate about guns. Sadly, it seems the honest part will have to wait, because the White House put all its chips on using shootings such as the one in Newtown, Connecticut to push for an open-ended sweep against the Second Amendment. Joe Biden has insisted that his proposal will at least guarantee the establishment of universal background checks, psychological test on all current and new gun owners, a prohibition on the same of high capacity magazines and a ban on semi automatic weapons.

He said it is clear that the American public “wants us to act”, although some media and opinion leaders believe the White House is trying to deprive the people of their right to bear arms. The vice president acknowledged that there is no “one solution to avoiding” massacres and noted that the treatment of mental illness is one of the most important in any strategy.
