U.N. okays military action on Libya

Military action could come within hours

The United Nations authorised military action to curb Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi on Thursday, hours after he threatened to storm the rebel bastion of Benghazi overnight, showing “no mercy, no pity.”
“We will come, zenga, zenga. House by house, room by room,” he said in a radio address to the eastern city.
Al Jazeera television showed thousands of Benghazi residents in a central square celebrating the U.N. vote, waving anti-Gaddafi tricolour flags and chanting defiance of the man who has ruled for four decades. Fireworks burst over the city.
Gaddafi had warned that only those who lay down their arms would be spared vengeance to be exacted on ‘rats and dogs’.
“It’s over. The issue has been decided,” Gaddafi said. “We are coming tonight…We will find you in your closets.
“We will have no mercy and no pity.”
The U.N. Security Council passed a resolution endorsing a no-fly zone to halt government troops now around 100 km (60 miles) from Benghazi. It also authorised “all necessary measures” — code for military action — to protect civilians against Gaddafi’s forces.
But time was clearly running short for the city that has been the heart of Libya’s revolution.
Residents said the Libyan air force unleashed three air raids on the city of 670,000 on Thursday and there has been fierce fighting along the Mediterranean coastal road as Gaddafi moves to crush the month-old insurrection.
French diplomatic sources said military action could come within hours, and could include France, Britain and possibly the United States and one or more Arab states; but a U.S. military official said no immediate U.S. action was expected following the vote.
Ten of the Council’s 15 member states voted in favour of the resolution, with Russia, China and Germany among the five that abstained. There were no votes against the resolution, which was co-sponsored by France, Britain, Lebanon and the United States.
Rebel National Council head Mustafa Abdel Jalil told Al Jazeera television air strikes were essential to stop Gaddafi.
“We stand on firm ground. We will not be intimidated by these lies and claims… We will not settle for anything but liberation from this regime.”
It was unclear if Gaddafi’s threat to seize the city in the night was anything more than bluster. But at the very least it increased the sense that a decisive moment had come in an uprising that only months ago had seemed inconceivable.
Some in the Arab world sense a Gaddafi victory could turn the tide in the region, weakening pro-democracy movements that have unseated autocrats in Tunisia and Egypt and raised mass protests in Bahrain, Yemen and elsewhere.
RETALIATION
By late evening, telephone lines to Benghazi and internet connections appeared to be cut.
Gaddafi’s Defence Ministry warned of swift retaliation, even beyond Libyan frontiers, if the U.N. voted for military action against the oil-exporting nation.
“Any foreign military act against Libya will expose all air and maritime traffic in the Mediterranean Sea to danger and civilian and military (facilities) will become targets of Libya’s counter-attack,” the ministry said in a statement.

I was wondering why the UN is so visable lately, they seem to be everywhere and in to everything, and then to say we are going to commit and act of war, well that was really puzzling since only congress can do that, actually that’s an impeachable act on Obamas part, no such luck though, nothing will be said because according to Hillary Clinton the North American Union has arrived and is in full swing , the super highways are ready to go through the “Smart border” . Obama has taken a trip to Latin America to explain what will be available to them now, and when he comes back he will announce this.
This means we have lost our country. No more borders no more constitution and no more soverignty. We will now be the United states of the Americas and will have the Amero dollar,or a general dollar for all of the Americas and the Caribean, we will also be given the UN’s new constitution that has already been signed during the Bush administration. Hillary was so thrilled she could hardly contain herself.
Unlike America with its “aging population”, Latin America is full of young people, we have new businesses going up and Mexico is in the forefront of Climate change, Columbia, Brazil all of those countries in South Ameria and the caribean will be building new business and we are all connected, we export more goods to Latin America and Mexico than we do to China, these are all Hillarys words, not mine. I would guess they will be taking over the industry now from Japan as well, these countries can really use it. No mention was made of what we get out of it, a lot of mention of Global opportunities and global communities, no mention of American Communities though, I doubt if we will have any American communities since she mentioned Globalization and integration. It sounds friggin devine.
One group here is the winner, this communist take over and Breakdown of our country can only be attributed to one group, the Council on Foreign relations, they have been trying this for years and they finally got what they wanted, no borders and a one world bank, George Soros said his finest hour will be when America falls and is no longer America, it was in the papers with a picture of his ugly mug. No one arrested him for saying this, no one in the senate or congress has said a word about the north American union either, I guess they didn’t know about it. My finest hour is when all of those same Senators and Congressmen are voted out and Hispanics are voted in, lets get obama out and put in a hispanic as well, let the old Sentators get real jobs, they can’t do the one they have , thats for sure. the UN is our new boss right now, thats why you see their racist faces everywhere you go now, complete with communist rallies in NYC.
The new code word is Social change , in the internet in radio in your life and in your face. young people from CFR run colleges, the new face of communism, hyper, weird looking young people , they look and sound like nervous wrecks, I dont’ blame them, its tough to graduate from college and find out you are as dumb as a post and a commie besides. Since this will no longer be America then I guess they will have to bring our troops home, it would be illegal to keep them there thinking they are fighting and dying for America, its going to be a shock when they find out there is no America, maybe thats why janet napolitano put them on a terrorist list along with people who stockpile food.
God help us all, time to pray. God Bless the late great America and a pox on our government and all that sat by and watched this happen.
